Zakir Khan

Zakir Khan comes from a long line of exceptional musicians. He began his training at the age of 8 from his grandfather, Ustad Raheman Khan, and later with his father, Late Ayub Khan. Today, he continues to train with his uncle, Ustad Kadar Khan while also teaching at the Kalavant Center for Music and Dance as well as Bollywood Performing Arts. Zakir has also assisted in lectures, demonstrations, and performances, for the New York Board of Education, the Jamaica Arts Center, the New York Public Libraries, Bloomsburg University, New York University, Manhattan School of Music, Hunter College, and Columbia University. His soft and delicate style coupled with the precision, clarity, and consistency of tabla playing embodies the true virtuosity of a talented musician.
